Title: Territory Sales Manager

Territory:  Chicagoland / East Central Illinois / Western Indiana

Reports to: Katrina House & Chuck Dornfeld

Based at: Remote Office with 1 day a week in Romeoville, IL  / or Cordova, IL

Job purpose: This person should possess the skills needed to jump in, take over and manage an established, high volume territory while cultivating new business.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  1. Plan and prioritize personal sales activities and customer/prospect contact towards achieving agreed business aims, including costs and sales - especially managing personal time and productivity.

  2. Plan and manage personal business portfolio/territory/business according to an agreed market development strategy.

  3. Manage product/service mix using prices with some flexibility set by the company.

  4. Maintain and develop existing and new customers through appropriate propositions and ethical sales methods, and relevant internal liaison, to optimize quality of service, business growth, and customer satisfaction.

  5. Use customer and prospect contact activities tools and systems, and update relevant information held in these systems. Teams and Alere Accounting software.

  6. Plan/carry out/support local marketing activities to agree with budgets and timescales, and integrate personal sales efforts with other organized marketing activities, e.g., product launches, promotions, advertising, exhibitions and telemarketing.

  7. Respond to and follow up sales inquiries.

  8. Monitor and report on market and competitor activities and provide relevant reports and information.

  9. Communicate, liaise, and negotiate internally and externally using appropriate methods to facilitate the development of profitable business and sustainable relationships.

  10. Attend training to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.

  11. Adhere to health and safety policy, and other requirements relating to care of equipment.

Must be able to spend nights away each month. Must be able to commute to corporate office. Able to work extended hours on occasions when required.   Must have clean or near clean driver’s license.

Computer skills: Must be adept in use of Email, Teams, Word, Excel and other company specific programs.

Business and Selling Skills: Must be an excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator. Able to demonstrate success and experience managing major accounts customers and large contracts or even a business, particularly achieving genuine sales development. Ideal background would be in wholesale or landscape products and/ or Green Industry with experience in the following categories:

Landscape Construction

Blueprint takeoffs

Working knowledge of hardscape materials

Soil Science

Turf Management

Computer and Communication skills

Small Business Management 

 

Education Requirements:

2 Year Degree required

Bachelor’s Degree preferred

5 Years of successful sales experience ( Remote)
