In order to calculate an unbiased ESC, we will be using the Midwest average diesel fuel cost for our base calculations. This information is uploaded from the US Government EIA (Energy Information Administration) website on Monday evening:
http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/oog/info/wohdp/diesel.asp#graph_button
(The EIA website is updated Monday evenings – We will calculate loads from Tuesday to Monday using the previous Monday rate.)
EXAMPLES:
For mix and match (palletized) loads:
(The posted price of fuel on Monday evening) x (1.67) = (per pallet ESC fee)
For example, Tuesday fuel is $3.50/gallon.
$3.50 x 1.67 = $5.85 per pallet
$5.85 per pallet x 18 (number of pallets on truck) = $105.30
Your energy surcharge will be $105.30
For bulk mulch loads:
(The posted price of fuel on Monday evening) x (.42) = (per cubic yard ESC fee)
For example, Tuesday fuel is $3.50/gallon.
$3.50 x .42 = $1.47 per cubic yard
$1.47 per cubic yard x 70 (number of cubic yards on truck) = $102.90
Your energy surcharge will be $102.90
In order to keep costs down for everyone concerned:
